Garden Ladder Quilt Top
I'm working on the binding at the moment. I tried quilting it by machine. I didn't like the way it turned out. RIPPPPPPPP
Instead I tied the center and hand quilted the outside border.

There was record heat in the city yesterday, 103. Freckles died of heat stroke after I got off work. She was a great Momma and a sweet pet.

One lousy day off...
I made a Tiki Torch from a margarita bottle and I harvested my garlic (32 heads). Dick put up a planter box that I made from a drill rod box from work (more on that later!)

Happy Solstice!
Man, it's a hot one today. Momma said it is cooler in Texas than in Michigan today. Ugh.
I lost the two 3 week old buns yesterday in the heat. So sad. The 11 week old litter are faring the weather. They go to freezer camp this weekend.
Man, I hope this is not a preview for the rest of summer.

We rode our bikes 6 miles before stopping at "Friendly's" for breakfast.
Going to lay low until it gets dark outside.

Staycation
We are staying home this weekend. I just want to chill and clean up around here. I have assembled a nice list of things to do around the house. *Hint: New hutch, Cucumbers & New Garden Bed*.
I also would like to go for a nice long bike ride, if the weather permits. The plan is to go to Kengsington Metro Park .I looked at the weather for this weekend. Rain. Come on, work with me.
I spun up some really nice Polworth. This is my first time and it is really easy to spin. I would like to keep this as a single but I have a feeling that the yarn won't let me

Fiber Friday
I spun this 4 ounces in record time. I love this yarn. The colorway is Sean of the Dead.I would say it's 100 yards worsted weight 2ply.
On other spinning news, I received my batt from Storied Yarns. The colorway is called " The Sneetches" from Dr. Suss.

Coppery Goodness
It's a Fiber Friday!!
What a great week for spinning.
Last Saturday, I hung out with my girls at Biggby's and spun the rest of the above fiber. I picked this up at the Ann Arbor Fiber Expo last fall. It looks like it ranges between Aran/Worsted weight 2ply. It's super squishy. It's a little scratchy so I think this will become a hat and not the cowl I imagined it would be.
Also, I won $15 from Storied Yarns for the Hunger Games SAL! Wooohoo! I emailed her to see if I could get a custom batt made!

Cigar Box Uke
I love my new toy!
We made this over the weekend and finished it last night.
Dicky cut the sound holes and the spot where the neck attaches to the body.
I made the bridge and cut the string holes.
I hope this is the first of many new Cigar Box Instruments!!!!

Hardwoods under gross carpet.
Side note: My chest freezer completely defrosted.
WTF.
I could only save the turkey and some frozen fruit. After work, I'll be bleaching out the bottom of it. So gross.
